Nectars of the Vines or the Gods....
As we spent many months perfecting the recipe, trying different wines, spices and fruits, we began calling it our nectar! One evening, as we enjoyed a few choice cabernet grapes with dinner, lightning struck, well not literally, but someone called the sauce divine, as in, y'know, yummy. Hhhmmmm? "Divine Nectars". For a start it's easier to say than Nectars of the Vines, or Nectars of the Gods, wouldn't you say? Divine inspiration indeed!! Our friend chimed in "a sweet indulgence" and, there it was. The company was born! Oh the possibilities!
But, as it turns out, on the worldwide web, Divine Nectars has several meanings....
The first alludes to the benefits of cannibis -with promises of everything from good health and long life, to visions of the gods, no less. Dude, like totally awesome, man!
The other one pertaining to the bodily secretions of the female variety after a certain sexual act AAAAAAgh!!! What? Cringe!!... "'nuff said", says you.
Lordie!! We sure know how to pick a name, heh! WOW! Mortified, embarassed and perhaps a bit intrigued... (just a little bit, mind you), back to the drawing board we went. But in the end- we decided to stick with our favorite name and brave the laughter and the teasing when people did search for us on the internet.
On the bright side, it makes for a great story for YOU to share as you serve it. Enjoy the laughter this little tale may bring to your table at our (Maeve and Ben Perle) expense! Just remember we are divine nectars- PLURAL, OK?
